OUTREACH & AWARENESS
In its efforts to continue preserving the World Heritage Site of Petra, PNT believes that to effectively protect and manage the site, the integration of the local communities of the Petra Region is crucial, as is heightening people’s awareness of the fragility and uniqueness of Petra and the need to preserve protect it. By taking on community and awareness projects, PNT hopes to improve the quality of life of youth and Jordanian citizens, enhance their awareness of the uniqueness of Petra and its values, and encourage them through sustainable income generation projects to play a proactive role in the development of their social, economic, educational and health conditions.
PNT has extended its role in Petra beyond archaeological and environmental preservation and has initiated outreach and awareness programmes involving local youth of varying ages. By establishing this programme, PNT’s objective is to instil a sense of pride of Petra’s cultural and natural heritage and inspire a commitment to preserving and protecting Petra’s outstanding universal values.
